REFUND POLICY (Please Read)
50% of your tuition payment is a non-refundable deposit. In the event that a student requests cancellation prior to 45 days of class/workshop commencement, he/she will be offered a course transfer or refund of 50% of the tuition payment. If a student cancels within 45 days prior to the first day of class, no refund will be made. The Bascom reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet minimum enrollment, and full refunds will be issued.
Realism vs Abstraction in Landscape Using Oil, Various Mediums & Mixed Media Studio Workshop : Alternate Session
This workshop will cover two main topics: Pushing one’s landscape artwork with a variety of mediums and tools as a way of loosening up, as well as heavy discussion on changing design and composition to push outside the obvious.
Places We Go
In this 3 day, hands on workshop, students will learn how to sculpt in 2 dimensional relief.
Painting an Alla Prima Portrait in Oil
Chatov’s workshop environments are casual, encouraging, and informative. This workshop will be centered on painting a portrait alla prima which is a wet into wet application, generally in one sitting.
The Art of Expressive Landscapes with Acrylic Paints
This two-day painting work shop will cover the fundamentals of how to create a dynamic landscape painting using acrylic paints. The primary focus of the workshop will be to explore the medium of acrylic paints and their versatility.
Melting Magic - Encaustics
Let your creative blocks melt away with this exuberant experience with the oldest form of painting (think Egyptian mummy portraits)!
How to Create Better Paintings with Irish Born Master of Color, Hugh O'Neill
This dynamic workshop is designed for all levels and for most mediums. Learn how to create strong, vibrant paintings with fluid and confident brush work. You will be taught how to see more clearly and learn how to mix vibrant colors that enhance, and that are vital to any style of art. Hugh O’Neill will teach you by example, by demonstrating while he explains and describes each key point he makes, which is insightful and immediate for all participants. You will also receive very useful critiques at certain times throughout the workshop.
Expressing Place with Pots that Pour
Using pots that pour, like teapots, ewers, pitchers, and flasks, we will explore the concept of place and expressive surface design, through texture, line, design and slip/underglaze transfers. Utilizing Speedball Underglazes, Screens, and supplies.
From Realism to Abstraction
Simplification is the main focus of this class. An overview of techniques to use in your realistic or abstraction work with oil painting is our goal. Karen teaches two ways of using very limited usage of oil paints to learn palette knife techniques.
Still-life in Oils with Gina Brown: Alternate Session
This 2 day still life oil painting workshop is for all level artists, *beginners to advanced, that want to learn a new style of painting that results in loose and free paintings.
Resident Artist Series: Beginner Potter's Wheel Making PUMPKINS! (October)
The October installment of our Resident Artist Series will focus on providing you with all the basics you will need to know to get started working on the potter's wheel. In honor of the season, we'll be making PUMPKINS! The class meets from 10am - 12pm/noon on October 4th, 6th, 11th, and 13th.
