The Bascom is a place where engagement with the visual arts enlivens the experience of the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. Our goal is to enrich our community with exhibitions of artists well-known and new to the scene, classes for people of all ages and skill levels, and outreach programs that serve children and youth in Macon and Jackson Counties. As a free, public space in a beautiful mountain location our campus offers visitors time to walk an outdoor trail while taking in sculptures and stories for kids, and historical structures that celebrate the legacy of American handwork and ingenuity.
The last two years have demonstrated our resiliency as we fully re-opened after COVID and developed a growing network of artists in the region who engage in our exhibitions, retail, teaching, and other professional development opportunities. At the same time, we continue to develop new partnerships with other organizations that allow us to extend our mission across the region and deepen our impact on children and youth in our community.
All that we do is made possible by our generous donors who support our programming in outreach and education and in opportunities for the public to partake in our offerings. Thank you!
Due to the efforts of Board and Staff, our organization is in a sound financial position, with an endowment of $1.3 million and a balanced operating budget. We have also begun a study of our opportunities for the future, from examining capital needs for maintaining our beautiful facilities and grounds to imagining our future campus in light of the needs of our growing mission.
We are honored to have the privilege of serving the vibrant organization that is The Bascom and hope to see you in 2024!
