Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Juana’s journey in ceramics began after moving to Athens, Georgia, where she was inspired by the rich pottery traditions of the region and the role handmade objects play in gathering and connection.

Influenced by the simple yet expressive forms of terracotta and black clay tableware from Colombia and Southern Mexico, Juana’s work reflects a deep appreciation for surface decoration, mark-making, and narrative imagery. Her pots feature motifs drawn from daily life—plants, bikes, houses, and animals—infusing each piece with a sense of place and playfulness. A commitment to experimentation keeps her work evolving, as she continually explores new techniques, glazes, and decorative approaches.
