From Realism to Abstraction

This workshop, taught by Karen Weihs, offers participants an opportunity to explore palette knife and brush techniques using Cobra water mixable oils or their preferred medium. Titled From Realism to Abstraction, the workshop focuses on interpreting the landscape as the foundation for both realistic and abstract compositions.

Karen Weihs will demonstrate how to guide the viewer’s eye through value color studies and strong composition. Participants will learn various techniques for holding the palette knife to create a wide variety of marks, along with insights into paint manipulation and brushwork. Each morning includes live demonstrations, while the afternoons are dedicated to individual instruction, providing tailored guidance to help participants develop their unique artistic approach.
