Oil Painting for Everyone: A Beginners Guide to Capturing Light and Form in the Landscape
The workshop is especially designed for the beginner.
We’ll cover all the basics of painting with oils: How to mix oils and apply the paint strokes, how to use a photo and map out your composition and how to confidently apply the paint!
The course covers
• Composing your painting from a photo
• Color temperature and mixing paint
• Understanding light and how to capture mood with paint
. Mixing color and using Oil based mediums
With the beautiful NC mountains as our inspiration you will finish the course with a landscape painting ready to hang, and the confidence to continue your artistic journey.
If you have always wanted to try Oil painting, but didn’t know where to begin, then this is the perfect course for you.

Cath Connolly Hudson is an experienced local artist with a teaching background and a passion
for helping others explore their creative paths. She will patiently guide you on this beginners
journey in an open environment with room to explore and find your ‘painter’s voice’.

Venue Information - The Bascom: Adult Studio B (Trail Level)
Located on the Trail Level (lower level) of The Bascom's main building, Adult Studio B hosts a variety of classes, workshops, and more. Entrance is either through the front door of the main level of the building and down the stairs or from the trail entrance on the lower level of the backside of the main building.
