Learn two forms of wool felting to make one beautiful sunset dragonfly artwork
Learn the ancient process of wool felting by creating your own sunrise dragonfly artwork that you'll take home in a wooden hexagon frame. During the first half of this two-part part workshop, you will learn the wet felting process which dates back to prehistoric times. You'll use wool, soap, water and handiwork to create the sunset backdrop for your dragonfly and you will paint your hexagon tray frame. The next day, when your felt is dry, you will learn how to needle felt, which is a different process that began in the early 20th century. You will needlefelt your dragonfly onto the sunset piece, place it in the frame and enjoy. There is no sewing involved, and the felting needles and high-density felting pads are yours to keep for future projects. Award-winning fiber artist, Kim Keelor, from Franklin, N.C. will be your instructor and will share with you her passion for combining wet and needle felting for high-impact fine craftworks.
