The Abstracted Landscape
This immersive four-day workshop at The Bascom invites artists to explore the fundamental principles of design while discovering their own authentic creative voice. Rather than prescribing a single style, Larry Moore offers a flexible process that allows participants to choose their own level of abstraction—from representational interpretations to fully abstract compositions.
Through an in-depth study of the seven tenets of creative expression and the visual language of art, Larry guides artists in developing a personal approach that is uniquely their own. Emphasis is placed on thinking like an artist—expanding ideas, pushing boundaries, and working with intention—whether interpreting from life, refining an existing process, or venturing into new territory.
Larry’s extensive experience across pastel, acrylic, oil, gouache, and mixed media encourages participants to work in the medium that best suits their practice. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced artists with prior experience in drawing, color, and painting.
An accomplished painter, educator, and author of Fishing for Elephants: Insights and Exercises to Inspire Authentic Creativity and Poster and Process, Larry is currently completing a follow-up to Fishing for Elephants. His teaching blends technical knowledge with practical exercises to inspire deeper, more personal artistic exploration.
