Adult Printmaking: Garden Party Monoprints

Celebrate the colors and textures of summer while exploring monoprinting techniques to create unique works in ink. Using flowers, leaves, and other garden materials, participants will learn the basics of gelli plate printmaking and experiment with printing on one of The Bascom’s presses.

This hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop requires no prior experience and produces vibrant prints that can be enjoyed on their own or used as inspiration for future prints and collages.

Resident Artist Series: Wheel Throwing I

In this 5 day wheel throwing class, we will cover the basics of working on the potter’s wheel. If you have never tried this before, please expect some difficulty in the initial stages. The focus will be to learn centering and then to pull shapes such as bowls (ex. berry bowls, soup bowls, colander, cereal bowls, etc) and cylinders (ex. Mugs, tumblers, sippers – based on the learning curve). This class includes Open Studio access only on the day of class. There will not be a glazing component to this class. Learn the basics of classical figure drawing from a live model. In this course, we will focus on gesture, comparative measurement and how to create block-ins, which are the foundation of all representational drawings. There will be demos, Q&A sessions as well as in-depth, personalized critiques of student work. We will start with short gestures and work our way up to longer poses.
