Artist Bio
Born in Ukraine. My formal training includes art school in my native Ukraine and Bachelor of Ceramic Arts from the Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts in Jerusalem, Israel. I studied stone carving and bronze casting at the Tommasi Bronze Foundry and the Antognazzi Marble Studio, in Pietrasanta, Italy - the ancient medieval town and marble quarry favored by Michelangelo. My mastery of bronze/metal casting was acquired at the Johnson Atelier in Mercerville, New Jersey where I refined my techniques for the Lost Wax Process and Sand Casting. The recipient of numerous accolades and participant of symposiums, I was also the coowner and designer of public sculptures, toys, holograms, and giftware for Avant Garde Studio for over 20 years.
Artist Statement:
The inspiration for my functional work in clay is drawn from the visual strength andbeauty of nature. I reference natural line and form to create my own visual language. I combine wheel thrown and hand built forms to express my ideas.
