Ease & Flow: Create Inspired & Free Paintings
This three-day workshop will help you transform your art in a more modern and expressive way!
Abstraction in Acrylics & Gouache
In this 4 day class we will cover the fundamentals of abstract art. It’s not specifically a non-objective (pure abstract) class, you get to decide the level of abstraction you wish to explore. It is more a learn-how-to-think kind of a class where you will receive a process that you can do on your own at home.
Playing with the Figurative
This workshop will cover hand-building exercises that promote creativity with and through the figure.
Realism vs Abstraction in Landscape Using Oil, Various Mediums & Mixed Media Studio Workshop
This workshop will cover two main topics: Pushing one’s landscape artwork with a variety of mediums and tools as a way of loosening up, as well as heavy discussion on changing design and composition to push outside the obvious.
Keys to Dynamic & Colorful Oil Paintings
Painting is about understanding what we see, and having the necessary skills to interpret that scene on canvas. It’s also about seeking out that unique style, or interpretive ’voice’, that we all have. In this workshop we’ll cover concepts, insights, and skills in many areas (like color mixing, light and shadow theory, and expressive brushwork, value training, and edges, etc.)
Painting Flowers in Oil
Learn to paint flowers in oil directly with a loose and fresh approach in this 3 day workshop. Pat will share a simple approach to painting flowers using a base of transparent paints followed by opaque paints.
Integrating Form and Pattern
This 3 day workshop includes making pots, developing patterns, and getting those patterns onto the pots. The class will discuss how to approach a pot for decoration and what surface techniques will yield the results they desire. Students will develop their own surface patterns and learn how to carve these patterns into their work.
Encaustics for the Bold and Restless
Beeswax and resin and pigment heated to 180 degrees and then painted on a board...fuse with a blow torch and the magic begins! Encaustics will let your creative soul come ALIVE whether you’ve had any painting experience before. This class is appropriate for total beginners as well as advanced painters.
Portrait Painting with Oils
Each student will create a life-like portrait using oil paint. They will learn: color mixing, paint application, the structure and planes of a human face and how to capture a likeness. Several photo references will be provided from which students can choose to work.
The Art of Abstract
This three-day workshop is designed for the new and or experienced Abstract Artist working with acrylic painting materials. Open to those who are familiar with acrylics and have a basic understanding of color or want to experiment with new ways of using these or those who are stuck in a slump.
