Community Barn Dance (2026)

Square dancing has been part of life on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau for generations, from Helen's Barn's fifty-plus summers of music and dance to this annual evening on the Bascom campus. Jackson Grimm's Old Time Machine provides live music, and caller Harrison Keely walks dancers of every experience level through traditional squares and reels. No partner or experience required.

Two local food vendors join the evening: The Secret Garden brings sandwiches and other prepared items, and M's Ice Cream serves shaved ice and ice cream from its trailer. Popcorn is free throughout the evening, and a donation bar is open.

Admission is $10; children 12 and under attend free. Advance registration is encouraged.
