Artist Talk with Gregor Turk

Join The Bascom and guest curator, Gregor Turk, for a discussion regarding the recently opened contemporary sculpture exhibtion, Re: Play. 

Known for his public art installations, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media constructions, Gregor Turk often incorporates mapping imagery and cultural markings into his artwork. He has had over 30 solo exhibitions. His work is included in the High Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art – Georgia (MOCA – GA), JPMorgan Chase Art Collection and numerous other public and private collections. Turk has permanent public art installations in the Atlanta and Jacksonville airports as well as at various other public facilities and parks. He has been involved in the visual arts in Atlanta for over three decades in a variety of capacities: artist, administrator, curator, educator, juror, grass-roots advocate, panelist, policy advisor, and on occasion, public art tour guide.    He received his B.A. from Rhodes College and his M.F.A. from Boston University.  Between degrees he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia, West Africa.   He is a frequent visitor to Highlands and his go-to hikes are along the Bartram Trail.
