Inner Secrets

Our ancestors all had stories and secrets; some are passed down through the generations and others are kept hidden forever. Often, it’s the secrets of the heart that are kept under wraps. Let’s create a sculpture that tells a story of those secrets, either current day or past! All skill levels welcome as we create a bust (male or female) in this three day workshop. Working with the armature and building solid, students can work relatively quickly and intuitively on the basic form. As the clay dries to leather hard, the sculpture must then be hollowed out and put back together. Final details and embellishments are then added at the end for some final fun as the piece really comes together. Materials mainly used are a groggy sculpture clay, stainless steel, and your hands! There will be an opportunity at the end to add some basic color with slips and underglazes to our pieces at the end of the workshop.
