Inquiries about Exhibitions, Instruction and Retail Shop ~ Guidelines for Artists and Educators


Exhibitions
The Bascom offers artists two exhibition opportunities:  
1) A members show (click here to download 2010 members exhibition application)
2) A juried exhibition (click here to download 2010 juried exhibition application)

To propose your work for exhibition beyond the members' and juried exhibitions, kindly submit:
* 10-15 high-resolution digital images of your current artwork
* Biography with artist's statement (half page total)
* Resume with name, address, phone numbers, email, website address, awards, and list of publications, collections and exhibitions that have included your work
* Duplicate copies of all materials
* Addressed to:  Kaye Gorecki, Artistic Director, The Bascom, P.O. Box 766, Highlands, NC 28741 / kgorecki@thebascom.org

Instruction
To be considered for work as a contract art instructor in The Bascom's school, kindly submit:
* Description of the class or workshop content including media, theme, approach to instruction, hours per day, number of days, maximum number of students, your supplies list for students, and any special requirements
* 2-3 high-resolution digital images of your current artwork and an image of you
* Resume with name, address, phone numbers, email and website address
* Your fees and recommended tuition per class or workshop
* Promotional tips.  May we notify individuals on your mailing list of you class?  Will you post on your website information on your Bascom workshop?

Shop
To propose your artwork for inclusion and sale in The Bascom's retail shop, kindly submit:
* Portfolio of 10-15 high-resolution digital images of your original crafts or artwork (Note: The Shop focuses on usable objects:  pottery, blown glassware, purses, scarves, journals, etc.)
* Biography with artist's statement (half page total).  Comment on price range of your work.
* Resume with name, address, phone numbers, email and website address
* A list of galleries and retail outlets that feature your work
* Addressed to:  Leila Griffith, Director of Retail Operations, The Bascom, P.O. Box 766, Highlands, NC 28741 / lgriffith@thebascom.org.
In an effort to avoid saturating the local market with a narrow selection of artwork, The Bascom reserves the right to avoid stocking or presenting objects sold in other local Highlands, NC venues, e.g. area galleries.
