Jones Work
Jones Work
Work with a common material to make an uncommon form. Sculptor Elder G. Jones' stunning planters, sculptures and other garden art will inspire anyone to try out his "wet carved concrete" technique. Students will be guided through the process of mixing sand and cement and pouring the mixture into a form, which will later be carved with designs. You will leave with the knowledge of a process that can be repeated in your own backyard.

Jones had an uncommon beginning for his current art career. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in biology from Middle Tennessee State University but studied art along the way. He has won numerous awards and has been seriously exhibiting his drawings and outdoor concrete works since 1981. Jones was featured in the two books by Sherrie Warner Hunter, Creating with Concrete, 2001 and Creating Concrete Ornaments for the Garden, 2005 by Lark-Sterling Books. "This has established me as 'the guy' concerning the technique of wet carved concrete," he says.
